WakeSMART in Health-Care Organizations 2024
WakeSMART is gaining exceptional interest amongst health-care providers who are seeking lower operational costs and/or to reduce their carbon footprints. WakeSMART is uniquely suited to this environment because, among other reasons, of its ability to have an impact in such a very complex environment where security is a paramount concern. Competitive solutions, or do-it-yourself attempts, are risky and ineffective. Because of the ‘always-on’ nature of hospitals, savings potentials are often very high.
EVALUATION PROCESS
It is always preferable for customers to take advantage of Raptor Technical’s standing offer of evaluating WakeSMART prior to purchasing. This helps to give the organization a better forecast of the energy savings opportunity and allows IT departments to confirm that WakeSMART works well in their technical environment. Moreover, IT often discovers that WakeSMART will provide them with many benefits in the administration of their computer fleets. For health-care organizations, IT departments are generally leading the movement toward WakeSMART implementations.
LARGE REGIONAL HEALTH-CARE ORGANIZATION
This example is from a very large multi-state health-care organization operating in the western United States. The organization has an objective to reach net-zero by 2030 which WakeSMART will help support. An audit was commenced in 2022 and lasted several months. It included over 16,000 computers. The organization has about 60,000 total computers, split between laptops and desktops. The savings potential is tremendous at about 210 kWh/computer in annual savings. That will be a 36% reduction in computer energy savings. The 3 and 5-year savings projections are below.
